Indian Reality...A Sabotage !!

"Have you received the invitation? Is Salman invited?" Baffled and surprised by what I have written?Need not b'coz these lines are the main headlines of all leading newspapers and news channels covering Abhi-Aish wedding.

Sad to know but this is the modern day truth. Our media is not interested in covering the real issues concerning the common man. Instead they are busy highlighting trivial issues like wedding of two actors and raising them to the stature of demigods.

Aish &Abhi may be proficient and famous in their profession but then there are so many others who are well-known in their respective areas of competencies but do all of them get the same treatment by media? The answer is big ‘NO’ b’coz every name does not sell and who other than media knows it better. After all in today’s world everything comes down to money and that is what these people, apt at the skill of writing and projecting are concerned about.

Today our actors have been raised to a position where they have become self confessed gods and hats off to media for this. These people who probably contribute least to the society in terms of its upliftment and welfare and are biggest tax evaders enjoy the front page coverage by newspapers. This may sound trivial issue to many people but this kind of attention to such insignificant issues leads common people to diverge from the real problems of illiteracy, poverty, female feotocide etc. our country faces today. The picture which one gets of India after reading such news is very rosy but does it project real India? No, b’coz India is gripped with problems in plenty.

This article is an attempt to tell the press that the power which pen has given it ‘Please do not misuse’.Try making common people hero by addressing the issues related to their needs and thus work towards the true progress of India which will glitter in the eyes of every Indian and not only in the diamond ring worn by Aishwarya on her wedding. Please do not sabotage the reality.

Hey saumik.. Good topic.. yes, thats true but dont u think the media is afterall a reflection of our society?? they give it becoz ppl take it.. how many people of our age actually go thru the newspaper and are concerned about which woman gets raped by the policeman and there are no agencies noit even the NCW to look into the matter. i find most people around me to grab the Calcutta times when i get the Times of India. that is y Media is so commercial.. they want to sell..nyhow.. n so they take up things that Sells..
n how many care to think that the Diamond that Aishwarya wears may be from those remote areas in Africa wer somebodys hand is cut to get those 'Precious' stones!!(try n c d muvi Blood Diamond sumtym..)

dude..the media shows what the people want to see...almost everyone will change the channel if floods in bihar are being covered...but will be glued to the screens when gossips bout celebs are aired. Ethics etc are good on paper...but if the media houses have to survive in this world...increase their TRPs, they have to show what people want....Now its for people to decide what they want to see! Some channels do a balancing act...and probably they are doing their bit for the society...but in general its about people like you and me to decide what we want aired or read....

I don't agree that media always covers the celebrity... why is Arushi murder case highlighted then? neways people now have more channels to choose from than ever before, so blaming a set of channels is not the right approach...

and why only blame Indian news channels... remember Princess Diana's death & the coverge that followed? I dont remember BBC showing kids of Somalia then.

Well I see a lighter side in al this! U were able to write this blog bcos media covered the issue isnt it?? And look what you have chosen to attakck the media? Media again!! It maynot be tele media but you are using web media and you have the freedom to write whatever u want! So does the media!! So wherein lies the discrepancy?? I however acknowledge the view that more important issues perhaps are not being addressed but that these issues do exist have been made known to you by the media itself isnt it????

However the topic is indeed really interesting and it made me try and use the MEDIA a bit too!! So wrote this comment! Cheers! Keep it up buddy!
